About us

In 2008, a small group of animal lovers realized the need to rescue animals from euthanasia in overpopulated shelters and Castaway Pet Rescue was born!  Since then, we have helped over 1,800 dogs find the loving forever homes that they deserve!  Castaway is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, volunteer run, all-breed dog rescue that is completely foster-home based.  We take pride in focusing in on dogs with special needs that need to be addressed before they are adopted into loving homes.  We do not have a physical shelter facility. Instead, we bring homeless dogs into our network of volunteer foster homes, where they receive medical care, training, and are given a change to acclimate to life outside the shelter or streets.  Our foster homes aid in evaluating personality and temperament of the dogs to assist in providing the best adoptive home situation possible.
